This may happen if the foam hasn't fully expanded. Lay the pad flat up to 48 hrs to reach full size before putting into the cover. Then press out the air from one side to the other through the foam shape for a snug fit. (Installation video to refer)

Yes, it's designed for safety. The thick foam is for comfort, but it has a non-slip bottom to prevent sliding and a safety strap to secure your baby. When used properly, it is stable and secure.

Smells chemical. Is this safe?
